Jean-Charles Francois-Amoresque 2 : For 2 Percussionists
This piece centers on mallet instruments, but also includes timpani, bongos, thai gongs, Chinese cymbals, sleigh bells, metal container with pieces of glass, clave', bass drum, tom tom, castenets, metal pipe, and a metal container with stones inside. The piece is based on a slow succession of pitchesorganized in melodic patterns. Each isolated pitch is presented by different instruments, timbres or registers. Sometimes organized rhythmic patterns emerge and sometimes the mnelodic structure is clear, and sometimes it disappears in complex textures. The result should be a dialectical play between attention given to timbral interactions and more traditional ways to perceive music(melody, harmony, rhythm...). Smith Publications. 1997.
