Nelson Faria & Cliff Korman-Inside the Brazilian Rhythm Section This is one of the best books on how to play Brazilian music. Every book Sher Music Co. publishes is of high quality and this is no exception. This book shows you how all the parts of the rhythm section fit together and can be used for drums, piano, bass and guitar, but I am sure if you play vibes it would work for you as well. Some of the rhythms and styles covered include Bossa Nova, Marcha-rancho, Samba, Afoxe', Choro, Baiao, and Partido-Alto. 	John McLaughlin & Selva Ganesh Vinayakram-The Gateway to Rhythm(DVD) If you ever wanted to understand Indian rhythms, this DVD is a great help. The South Indian system of learning rhythm is called Konokol, and this DVD includes many exercises covering basic techniques to learn how to play in any tal or time signature, how to improvise within the time signature, etc... John McLaughlin also demonstrates on the guitar how he used Konokol to compose many of his pieces (Mahavishnu Orch., Shakti, etc...), and how he uses it to improvise. 	All-Body Band-Slammin (with Keith Terry) This is the best CD yet from Keith Terry and his new group All-Body Band. Using vocalizations, beat boxing, and body music, this band creates an amazing aray of sounds, melodies, and rhythm. The cover of Tower of Power's "What is Hip" has to be heard to be believed. How they copied that 16th note bass pattern and horn section just using their vocies and body is beyond me. Also covered is Stevie Wonder's "Overjoyed", and it almost seems like Stevie is sitting in on that tune.
