It is not a method book for timbales, but it is a wonderful book, and the DVD itself is worth the price of the book. Plus, Jim Payne is a hell of a nice guy, so I would buy anything he puts out. he just happens to publish great books, though, so his being a nice guy is not the only reason to buy his book.
