(4-mallet vibraphone solo, 9 page score and 5 page part, Grade 5)Traveling represents the first in a series of pieces designed for the intermediate to advanced mallet player. Although written as a vibraphone/piano duet, the piece can easily be performed on marimba as well. A rhythm section of bass, drums, or percussion may also be added. The lead sheet style of notation is used showing chord symbols throughout. The 2-staff vibraphone notation is used to clearly show left hand accompaniment parts (bottom) that support right hand melody parts (top line). Single line notation is used when a solo melody or comping part is intended. Dampening, pedaling, and stickings are left to the discretion of the performer.
